Artwork and Book Reviews!

Leeway by Colleen Caitin

‘I’ve never before realized how green his eyes are, like sapphires’….page 42… Ermm, sapphires are blue!!!!

Lian is the captain of his very own pirate ship and while commanding his crew on the high seas, they spot a helpless girl floating in the water but not just any girl, the youngest of the Kings daughters. This puts Lian in a patchy predicament for she is not to be taken lightly.

There were quite a lot of grammar mistakes throughout the book that put a bad taste in my mouth:
Mila complained her muscles were ‘soar’, it’s really spelt ‘sore’
She saw a ‘men’ with grey hair, it’s really ‘man’.
He strips ‘of’ his jacket. It should be ‘off’
When the word should have been disbelief, it was disbelieve. All of these mistakes in the first 30 pages and there were MANY more after.

It was hard to feel a connection between Lian and Mila throughout most of the book for I didn’t really like the characters. I did like how it switches between the two point of views being told by the main characters though. It gives you a chance to see what the characters are thinking in there situation. Also the cover is quite eye catching.

2 out of 5 stars

Thank you Colleen for sending me a review copy.

  1. Ah the often overlooked importance of getting that final copy put through a good editor. I cringe at books, news articles, and lately emails that have errors. I find it hard to focus after a while.
